What Is a Mini LED Backlight?

A Mini LED backlight is a lighting system that uses thousands of tiny LED bulbs in a panel. These are switched on or off depending on the image displayed. Generally, the LEDs are grouped in zones that allow them to sync with the main image. Compared to traditional backlighting technologies, Mini LED backlighting is less prone to light encroaching adjacent pixels.

This portable LED light system comes with two adjustable LED light heads and a telescoping mini light tower. The mini light tower extends to twelve feet but can be folded down to seven feet for easy storage. When the mini light tower is not in use, the LED light fixture assembly can be removed from the center support with a hand knob. The light can then be locked into a vertical position.

One major disadvantage of using a Mini LED backlight is that the LEDs are smaller. This results in a lower brightness. But this is offset by the fact that they require less material to create light. However, this has limits because of heat and energy consumption. As LED technology continues to improve, new technologies are being developed to make it possible to make smaller LEDs.
